OK, so we are using this blog to discuss class issues. I think that Blogging is already old. Seems to me it's just another name for a message board. Back in the day, we had Compuserve with topic related discussion boards. Nothing new in the Blog.
So my big question is: What's the next new name for an old internet concept?
Maybe it's time to stop calling it a Blog and come up with something new.
Any ideas?
See you all soon!

OK, Tim, you asked for it...
Blogging is VERY DIFFERENT from a message board as it allows YOU (the reader) to post comments about a post w/o prior permission from ME (the author of the post). Plus, it does RSS feeds automatically. All-in-all, blogs are a fine way to have a poly-written, publicly published, self-achiving, multimedia enhanced, dialog. They are as much like a B-Board as a manual transmission is like a automatic. Both will allow you to "change gears", but only the later will do it for you without any extra effort on your part.

The transmission is a great example and helps to to better understand blogging. You might guess that this is the first time I have ever posted to a blog. I have read a few, and that's where I gained my view of being an article for me to read. I've been a reader, not a contributor or even a critic. I suppose nothing has made me want to take the time to react to the blogs I have read in the past.
The whole RSS abilty slipped past me too. That could be very useful.
