I think the best message in the chapter applies to trying to force a message on people. The story that they used to illustrate it with the Golden Goose was a good way to convey this message to others. If you try to get to the point too soon without letting people catch on and relate to you, it is going to go nowhere.

You're completely right with that one.

After this book I believe the plight of the storyteller is that s/he really has no professional common ground with ANYone besides other storytellers.

For Simmons to write for us or for her to write for a corporate audience, she can either choose to refine her message or present it in terms the audience understands.

Kudos to her for always choosing the latter, more difficult road.

I agree. For an audience to listen to your story or to be interested in it, you or your story has to relate to them.
