Simmons does seem pretty preachy in this chapter. Her lessons transcend storytelling. I actually thought it kind of absurd that they were being applied to something as small (in the grand scheme of things) as storytelling. Be mindful of your humanity, be humble, don't be negative...
The things she lists that are specific to an audience don't seem out of place, but can easily be applied to something as large as life.

Simmons spends part of the chapter telling us to not come off as a superior.

Isn't that exactly what she is doing by telling us what we should and should not do with our storytelling abilities?

I'll decide for myself how I will handle storytelling.

Well I think if she tried to write a book from an equal perspective it'd flop, perhaps worse than parts of this one.

Still, she obviously makes a lot of money doing this so I'm sure it's gone to her head.

Personally, I'd like to sit-in on one her sessions and see how many of her own rules she follows.
